One of our primary goals for Sukuma Kenya is to facilitate support towards necessary basic needs within the areas and communities that we will be working with. Sukuma Kenya believes in ethical business and we know that as long as people are treated fairly and given equal opportunities, we can also do our bit to helping reduce poverty.

However, we also know that there is such a massive divide in wealth distribution in Kenya and there are certain things like education facilities, access to water and good medical facilities that are simply lacking and have to be addressed.  You can read more about the Sukuma Trust aims and objectives HERE

Kajire Nursery SchoolOver the past two years of slowly building up relationships with Kajire village, we now have a much better idea of where we can immediately help and thus, when we were approached by the Lions Club in Bayreuth Germany who wanted to support something in Kajire, we immediately recommended and proposed the construction of an additional classroom for nursery school children.

Currently, there is one nursery classroom situated on one side of the village which caters for an average of 95 children! That's a lot of kids to fit into one classroom and for 2 teachers to handle.

Over the past few months, I have been in touch with Dr. Manfred Kaib who is a member of the Lions Club and during his recent visit to Kenya, we were able to discuss the project at length and the good news is that they have agreed to financially support the construction of an additional class for nursery kids in the village!

We are personally very proud to be able to assist with this project and extend our thanks to the Lions Club for taking this project on.  I have been in touch with the school committee in Kajire and needless to say, how excited and grateful everyone in the village is.  The community had already started to fundraise for this project and have set aside some funds that they have raised themLions Clubselves from within Kajire and will also be providing various materials that are locally available.

We hope to start construction in May and I will posting regularly about this project and so much more...

Thanks again to Dr. Manfred Kaib and his Lions Club in Bayreuth, Germany.
